Twas the week before Thanksgiving

Twas the week before Thanksgiving The thing about short weeks at MIT is that theyre not really all that refreshing. For some reason, instead of giving proportionally less work in a short week, professors seem to believe that it is perfectly reasonable to assign the same amount of work in a short week and just make it due earlier. I am not a huge fan of this logic, as it ends up feeling like youre living 5/3 of a day every day the week before Thanksgiving. I guess its also to make us really really really thankful when we sit down to our turkey dinner. Um, hello? How about we skip the hosing and go straight to the turkey? Although I suppose Ive already had my turkey for the week: D-Entry, where I live, hosted its annual pre-Thanksgiving dinner last night. We had two turkeys! In this picture, everybody is waiting patiently for their dinner. You can see Jay 08 attempting to carve one of the turkeys; Bryan (our Graduate Resident Tutor, a biology PhD student) cooked both of them. It was a potluck, so everybody brought something: Courtney 09 baked pumpkin pies, Steph 06 made mashed potatoes and Chris 09 and Kjel 09 brought pizza. Im not exactly sure how Dominos is a traditional Thanksgiving meal element but everybody still ate it up. I will be having more turkey on Thursday in Plymouth, MA with Adams family a real Plymouth Thanksgiving! I feel terribly authentic about this maybe Ill stop by Plymouth Rock on Thanksgiving and get my picture taken to be even more authentic. My mother is not so happy, as it will be the first time in my life that Im not home to help cut down the Christmas tree, but what can you do when flights home cost $500? I hope all of you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving and dont forget that its not the tryptophan in turkey that makes you tired after gorging on ALL THOSE CARBOHYDRATES.
